What is a good internet speed in Lebanon?

It depends on what you do. Around 10 Mbps down handles HD streaming and video calls comfortably; 25 Mbps covers 4K streaming on one screen (Netflix's own figure); a busy household streaming 4K on several screens is happiest at 100 Mbps or more. Upload matters too — a 1080p Zoom call wants about 3.8 Mbps up, which is where older lines usually fall short.

What is a good ping for gaming?

Under about 60 ms to our local network is excellent for online gaming, and under 120 ms is generally playable. Note that this test measures latency to SME's Lebanese network — a game server in Europe or the US adds its own distance on top, so treat the number here as your best case for the local link.

What is jitter and why does it matter?

Jitter is how much your latency varies between consecutive pings. Calls and games start degrading when jitter passes roughly 30 ms even when raw speed looks fine, because audio and game updates arrive unevenly. A low ping with high jitter often feels worse than a slightly higher but steady ping.

Why is my upload speed slower than my download?

Most residential lines are asymmetric by design — the line dedicates more capacity to downloading than uploading. That is normal. What to watch for is latency ballooning while the upload runs: that is bufferbloat, it is exactly what this test's "Under load" grade measures, and it is what makes video calls stutter when someone is backing up files.

Does this test measure packet loss?

No, and we would rather tell you that than invent a number. A browser test runs over HTTP/TCP, which retransmits lost packets invisibly — real packet-loss measurement needs UDP infrastructure a web page cannot honestly provide. Everything this test does show (download, upload, ping, jitter, latency under load, steadiness) is genuinely measured.
