    Installation and go-live

    SME's crew installs the fiber and the ONT and hands over the static IPs. Installation is typically within 7–14 business days of approval where SME FIBER is live; the 24/7 support line takes it from there.

How much bandwidth does a hotel need?

It depends on the number of rooms, the public areas and what the operation runs on the line. Every SME corporate circuit is a 100 Mbps dedicated, symmetric SME FIBER line, and the survey sizes the circuit and the plan quota for the property; a resort with several buildings, or a hotel with a conference centre, is scoped as several circuits on one corporate WAN.

Can the guest Wi-Fi be kept apart from the hotel's own systems?

Yes. The circuit carries both, and the hotel's network separates the guest Wi-Fi from the PMS, the card terminals and the back office; SME provides the static public IP addresses the hotel's systems and its vendors need. SME installs and supports the line and the ONT; the hotel's Wi-Fi network inside the building is designed with its IT provider.

Does SME provide IPTV for the rooms?

Yes. SME IPTV — live local and international channels, movies and on-demand content — is an add-on to the SME subscription, so the line and the TV come from one provider and one support line.

What happens if the line goes down?

Corporate and dedicated-circuit customers are covered by an uptime SLA and a 24/7 corporate support line that is monitored and answered around the clock. Properties that cannot afford a single point of failure add the optional microwave-link backup.

We have several hotels. Can they be on one network?

Yes, through SME's WAN service — a separate service from the internet: a private network that joins the properties to each other, across Lebanon or internationally, so they share one PMS, one back office and one IT team. Each property keeps its own SME Corporate Fiber circuit for its internet. See the WAN service page.

How long does the installation take, and what does the hotel need to provide?

Where SME FIBER is live at the building, installation is typically completed within 7–14 business days of approval, after a short site survey. To subscribe, the hotel applies online with its commercial registration, its Ministry of Finance / VAT registration and the authorised signatory's ID or passport; where fiber has not reached the street yet, corporate SME DSL keeps the hotel online in the meantime.
